Captain Bertram Dickson on a Henry Farman, powered by a 50 h.p. Gnome engine, Bournemouth, July 1910. Dickson had learnt to fly with the Farman school at Mourmelon, France and was the first English pilot to hold a world record. On June 6 1910, in Anjou, France, he broke the duration record for a passenger flight, by flying for exactly two hours, during which time he covered 98.75 kilometers (61 miles)
